3D's of technology
The world is becoming more and more digital as technology develops. Digitisation, digitalisation and digital transformation are three distinct concepts in this technological evolution. The act of transforming tangible objects into digital format is referred to as "digitisation". Digitisation is a crucial component of digital technology since it forms the basis for data recording. Physical things or information are stored in computers during digitisation, but the method by which this data is utilised may not change. The main distinction between digitisation and digitalisation is this. Digitalisation focuses on creating processes and altering workflows to better manual systems, while digitisation focuses on transforming and recording data.
The main goal of digital transformation, which is closely related to digitisation and digitalisation, is to incorporate technology into the majority, if not all, company operations. The goal of digital transformation is to radically increase workflow efficiency and add value for customers by integrating digital technology into every aspect of the business. Digital technologies are integrated to implement operational, organisational and cultural improvements. Businesses can now react to the constantly shifting landscapes and trends in their industries thanks to the digital revolution.
The goal of digital transformation is to increase engagement and generate new value by integrating knowledge across all business sectors. Digital transformation is facilitated by digitisation and digitalisation, although this process is not linear. The highest level, digital transformation, starts with data that is encoded into the system and the computer uses this data to enable or improve a process through digitalisation. Digital transformation happens as a result of the usage of digital technology and their integration into every aspect of organisational operations.
For organisations to adapt to the dynamic business environment, these three ideas are essential.
Both digitalisation and digital transformation can be viewed as building on digitisation. Businesses have embraced digitisation strategies to enhance the use and processing of data. When paper-based customer application forms are scanned and converted to digital data, for instance, data can be saved in computers and then analysed to provide demographic and behavioral information about customers. Businesses can use digitalisation to change their data and use it to improve operations and income.
Utilising digital technologies, digitalisation enhances process flows. Digitalisation is utilised in business to achieve a variety of objectives, including improving error and facilitating data analysis. Through digitalisation, businesses can develop new revenue streams and chances to provide value.
The movement toward digital transformation has fundamentally altered how firms run. Digital transformation involves integrating technology into every facet of a company's operations to enhance or completely generate new value for its clients. New firms can occasionally be created wholly through digital transformation. For instance, Spotify has made it unnecessary to physically gather CDs in order to create a music collection. Now, everyone can stream their favorite music whenever they want, whenever they are, with only a few clicks of a button.
The ability for digital transformation to be unique for each firm is a key feature.
